The Book

Tatum’s Dream…

Tatum Bowerman-Hummel was a lover of the written word.  She was an avid reader and had started to write a book before passing of metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) on 8/20/2016.  She had dreamed of writing a book for years, but could never choose a subject that she felt was her calling to share.  As she progressed in her journey and shared her story openly on social media, she realized that it resonated with people and seemed to be helping those battling cancer and inspiring all who followed.  This was the topic she had been waiting to be presented to her.  She was able to get about 15000 words written for the book, but also left behind thousands more words  in her journals, in the margins of the numerous books she read throughout her journey, as well as what she had shared on social media.   She asked her husband, Chris Hummel several times, including on the day of her passing to complete the book, to fulfill her dream of publishing a work that could educate, advocate for, and inspire people facing this terrible disease and those close to her.  “I made a promise to her.  I will not let her down, I will not let those that can benefit from her story down.”   This page will chronicle Chris’s progress on the book and efforts to publish.  Excerpts from the book will also be published here.
